As part of Collective Rhythms, bill daggs will take over Metroland Studios gallery and communal area, where he will sonically map his family home, a 2 bed flat on Shoot-Up Hill, where he spent the first 17 years of his life, while creating a space for listening, meditation, and rest. Metroland’s old clinic building, located on Kilburn Square, will house sound sculptures that perform a trance-like, infinite textural composition - the sound of the memories that objects store, while the gallery will hold 2 large scale rhythmical paintings, and 2 sonic compositions made specifically for the occasion. A public programme will consist of performances, an artist talk with Abbas Zahedi, and a screening of a collection of daggs’ moving image work compiled as a visual mixtape and will be shown at Other Cinemas, followed by a talk with artist Shepherd Manyika. The installation aims to encourage a space focused on supporting the furthering of ones understanding of self, reflection, and possibly healing, through listening and aural encounters.
